Three honest ways to get four 250-word behaviour examples and a personal statement ready for a Civil Service application, with what each costs, how long it takes and what you do not get. We are the middle one, so read the other two first.

1. Do it yourself: free, two or three evenings
The Civil Service Careers site explains the Success Profiles behaviours and how a personal statement is read, and every advert links the descriptor for the grade. Write each example in STAR order, run it through our free seven-point checklist, and read our three rewritten examples to see the shape. What you do not get: a second pair of eyes that has read a few hundred of these. The most common failure we see in drafts is not the story; it is the first 40 words being about qualities and the verbs describing a job. If you can fix those two things yourself, you do not need us.
2. Us: £49 including VAT, back in 1 day
You send your own examples (rough is fine) and the advert. You get up to four behaviours rewritten to the advert’s word limit in STAR order, each mapped to the descriptor for the grade, plus your personal statement (up to 750 words) rewritten against the essential criteria, by email within 1 day of payment. Late means a refund. What you do not get: anything invented, anything submitted for you, interview coaching, or any promise of a sift score; the sift is scored by people in the department. Read the sample before you pay.
3. A CV-writing company: about £190 to £310 for four behaviours, five working days
We read one established UK CV-writing company’s price list on 16 October 2026 (we do not name them; prices change). They charge per 250-word behaviour statement, by grade: £47.50 (AA/AO), £57.50 (EO), £67.50 (HEO/SEO) and £77.50 (G6/G7), with a standard turnaround of five working days. Faster costs more: three working days adds £14.99, two adds £24.99 and one working day adds £34.99. So four behaviours at HEO come to £270 in five working days, or £304.99 by the next working day; four at AA/AO come to £190, four at EO to £230, and four at Grade 7 to £310, before any personal statement. What you get there that we do not offer: a longer-established name, a satisfaction guarantee with revisions, and the option to have a statement written from a questionnaire rather than from your own draft. What you do not get: a next-day turnaround at the standard price, or the personal statement inside the price.

Who should pick which
Pick yourself if your draft already starts inside a dated situation and your verbs are things a sifter can picture. Pick us if the closing date is this week, you have the examples but not the shape, and £49 for all four plus the statement is the whole budget. Pick a CV company if you want someone to draw the examples out of you from scratch over a week, and the price is not the constraint.
Questions
Civil Service Jobs asks you to confirm the application is your own work and your own experience. A rewrite of your own examples, which you check and submit yourself, is how CV services have worked for years; an invented example is not, and we refuse those.
